and Kate Richardson too for you canadians!
rockin

k, a few thoughts on the rest of the us team:

~annia is clearly the big shocker.
i love her and all, think its pretty awesome we have TWO bonafide WOMEN on the team.
but definitely didn't expect it.
not only did they not put a beam/bars *specialist* on the team...
i don't see annia as even able to compete either of those events in the prelim round.
especially beam, omg. the very idea makes me shudder!!

which means Mo will/should be competing 3 events in prelims.
which is fine--she may not have the start value on beam, but she's a classic lead-off hitter.
you can count on her to hit.
THAT is the beauty of ncaa gymnastics.
back in the day, beam was Mo's demon event too.
but now, she's competed more #s than anyone on the squad and is as consistent as they come.

wait, wasn't i talking about annia?
oops. lol.
sorry, i'm in love, whaddya want from me?

~holly is clearly the heartbreaker.
i *HATE* that they did the announcement as they did.
its just cruel.
i give the girl props for not having her meltdown on-camera.
you could tell how hard she was having to fight it though.

nonetheless, i'm not surprised.
with their injury problems, i didn't expect her OR chellsie to make the top 6.
but damn, not to even be an alternate, you gotta feel for the girl.

~ allyse had been my prediction for the 6th spot.
after tabitha's injury anyway.
i wouldn't be surprised if she end's up competing tho.
worlds last year surely brought home the pt that ya just never know what will happen.
and at trials anyway, annia didn't look to me like she was yet 100% recovered from the knee injury.
actually, didn't she pull out partway thru?
anyways, that was another reason i was surprised about her making the 6.
allyse is an ideal alternate tho, solid all-arounder, capable of stepping in wherever needed.

~tasha.
tasha, tasha, tasha.
well, 1st or 2nd alternate is exactly where i anticipated she'd be.
and truth is, she's got no one to blame but herself.
i mean i like the girl, i like her gymnastics.
and i respect the fact that she knows her weaknesses, and was willing to cop to them on national tv.
nonetheless...i think she just took too long to fully re-commit.

k, tis enough for now.
my last comment is....

MO MO MO MO MO

dude!--
even without the soon-to-be-named bhardwaj
(which is way cool)
mo ROCKS on bars--
releases to the ceilings;
every handstand BAM;
and the dismount could make anyone weep at the sheer awesome beauty

her 2 day total at trials was 4th highest.
and it was tasha and holly who were 2nd + 3rd behind kupets.
(full event standings from trials here: http://www.2004gymnasticstrials.com/wcallaroundf4.html)

that was 1 of several reasons why i *objectively* thought they'd be stupid not to put her on the team.

yeah.
so there!!
